Floral alphabet Afghan

I got the pattern for a floral alphabet in an exchange, and have had some Charles Craft baby afghan fabric for a while now, so I decided to start my first afghan :)
I have some Dinkey Dyes silk threads that I bought that are from an Oops Bag a month or so ago that I didn't know how to use, so I'm going to guess what's closest to DMC and use those.

I have finished the A! It took me like two days on and off, but I had to work so I probably could finish one in a day...

  1. That is going to be gorgeous when it is done! Can't wait to see you work on it some more! :)

As for the special threads, although it would be very lovely, I would suggest seeing what the washing instructions are for it before you decide to use it. Dyed threads tend to run when they become wet so it might not be best for this project if you plan on using the afghan and plan on washing it.

    Happy Stitching! :)

  3. Is that hinting at an expanding family? The letter looks amazing! Very jealous. Can't wait to see it develop. How is your uncle's stitching progressing?

  4. Thanks! It's not hinting at anything lol there's years to go before that. I've taken a break from the lighthouse project because I want to finish my alice and snow white.

  5. It's looking FANTASTIC !! That will be a treasure for sure. I'd also like to suggest rinsing/washing your hand dyed fibers before using them, especially on a project like this.

If you've not done it before, it's very easy. What I normally do is warn a kettle of water, I poor the water into separate bowels and soak like colours together for a few minutes.

Once soaked, lay them out on a white paper towel and let them dry. Check for Halo'ing on the paper towel. Halo'ing is the bleeding of colour, if I see it I re-rinse-soak my threads and do it again until I see no more halo.

Wont hurt your threads at all but will save a project in the long run.

Good luck and very happy stitching !

  7. I'm a bit behind - sorry!

What a lovely design. You should be able to finish the project fairly quickly if it's only one or two days for each. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

Lovely to hear you're with your hubby full time now! Hope you're making the most of it!!
